The teenage years, particularly high school and college, is a whirlwind of ideas, people, and perspectives. Students need clarity on who they are and what they stand for before they get to college.

Free to Be Me is a three-part course that arms students with this clarity: it provides high school and college students with a unique space to anchor their identities as they enter the whirlwind of college. Its three lessons help students unpack their identity, purpose, and agency.

The lessons explore cutting-edge scientific research in conversation with timeless Jewish wisdom. The conclusions are as clear as they are compelling: (1) Healthy self-esteem is built on the solid ground of their intrinsic value, not just external achievements. (2) Life is fuller when it’s driven by purpose, not just the pursuit of pleasure. (3) They are always free to act in alignment with their deepest values, never just victims of circumstance.

By exploring these topics, Free to Be Me equips students with a resilient self-concept and empowers them to stand firm for their values and create positive change, no matter the pressures they may face—in college and beyond.
